Damn another book that rushed to the finale. What is it with Authors today they can only write a minimum of words but still charge more than $3:00 for the book. A short novella should be no more than $1:99 as a full length novel is sometimes as low as $3:00.

It was a promising story and if the book had been fleshed out it could have made for a brilliant novel. Please note readers are getting so sick of short novellas that charge far to much.

This story is a mixture of narrative of events vs. reading letters exchanged between Lizzie and Georgiana and then between Lizzie and her aunt, Mrs. Gardiner.

How did that happen, you may wonder? Elizabeth is on vacation with her Aunt and Uncle Gardiner when they come upon a carriage with a broken axle from which 3 individuals are being pulled. The story given by two of the threesome is that Mr. Wickham and his new wife are traveling with her companion, Mrs. Younge, from a holiday in Ramsgate. Elizabeth's observations show that the young lady is somewhat uncomfortable and that her hands are being squeezed by the other two. But they arrive in Canterbury and each party checks into separate inns.

Georgiana soon is locked in her room but overhears the other two while engaged in "the act" talking about the real reasons for "the elopement" (which she had just prior to the accident voiced regretting and wanting to undo) and how he will compromise her to force her brother to allow the marriage...and his gaining her dowry.

What follows is G. running off, W. in pursuit and first Elizabeth and then the Gardiners helping to rescue her. BUT upon delivering her to her brother they meet his anger at them (as strangers) having G. in their custody much less taking her with them! They leave.

We are now to read many letters back and forth....Darcy has learned his error, he is apologetic, he seeks out, apologizes to and befriends the Gardiners and G. despairs of his search for a wife as he determines such would be a good thing for Georgiana...and the future of Pemberley.

Eventually we are at the point where canon kicked in...Netherfield is leased and Darcy meets Elizabeth...and her family. But his attitude is different AND...HORRORS! Georgiana has never identified to him the name of her abductor, thinking a duel would ensue...with the possibility of injury or death to Darcy. Of course, Wickham shows up as part of the militia.

The author now more new twists which give the reader a bit of angst. As others have pointed out the situation at the crucial point seems unlikely for the Elizabeth Bennet we know, and in this story, the Elizabeth Bennet who has witnessed first hand the villainous acts of Wickham. But if you allow for some naivety on the part of our girl it all quickly brings us to our climax, with "men in white hats coming to the rescue" and a heroine, whose identity will astound you.

Collins is there to do his part and to make objections, Jane, Charles, Lady C. (although her part is more in passing) and then a sweet and short epilogue. Things are wrapped up nicely with several new variations in events in this story.
Really delightful read. Interesting the way Elizabeth and Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner met Georgina and they saved her from Fate Worst Then Death, so to speak. They rescue her and bring her home to Mr. Darcy, who is so shocked, he is quite rude to them. After he hears the whole rescue story, he tries to make amends. This story is very concise, not dragged out; and the characters are very close to Miss Austen's writings. I wouldn't mind reading a story where the Author expands, (I hope she will keep writing!) her characters, and lengthens it, etc. Otherwise, it was a perfectly clever, unique and interesting Good Read!
It was OK.
Short Description
1st Star - Helped pass time,
2nd Star - light-hearted, fun, and moderate to fast paced,
3rd Star - Suspenseful and/or exciting in some places,
4th Star - Kept things interesting - some twists.

Long Description An entertaining light-hearted clean read. Hints at an HEA ending but well - was also quite general. I would give it 5 stars - but generally, I like the novel to be a tad longer and maybe have a bit more depth in characters (both in quality and quantity). But I suppose you can say it follows the original characters personalities quite close if not perfectly - so from that aspect, I really enjoyed the story.
Enjoyed this Variation. Well written. Very much enjoyed this version of Georgiana. Liked the epistolary form of advancing the PLO n the first half.
The premise was good but the writing style was truly boring. It was like reading an encyclopedia. The characters were like stick figures, no depth or animation at all.
A good variation with The Gardiners and Elizabeth rescuing Georgiana from Wickham's clutches. He and Mrs Younge were evil, but they got their just desserts.

I like Georgiana and Elizabeth's friendship developing through letters, but I would have preferred some of the events not to have been off screen. I loved this brave and observant Elizabeth, and Georgiana who found enough courage to fight for herself.

The story was paced nicely, though the end seemed a bit rushed. Unfortunately it's a common complaint about novellas. It didn't take away my enjoyment of this story though.

4 5 stars for me.
